DOG WALKING ADVENTURES AND TRUSTED PET CARE

FAQ's

Below are some of the most commonly asked questions about working with me and what you can expect, if you have other queries there's a form at the bottom of the page for you to shoot me a message 🐾

🐾 Do you offer meet & greets?

Yes! I offer a free meet and greet so we can say hello properly, talk through your pet’s needs, and make sure we’re all a good fit. You can book one right here 👉 Meet & Greet

🐾 How do bookings work?

Once we've met and we’re all happy to go ahead, I’ll send over the forms and booking link. Once your forms and payment are complete, your place is confirmed.

🐾 What areas do you cover?

I operate in a radius around the Lustleigh area covering Bovey Tracey, Liverton, Brimley, Ilsington, Haytor, Widecome In The Moor, Manaton, North Bovey, Lustleigh, Mortenhampstead, Chagford and the Teign valley. It's worth reaching out for a quote if you are not in these areas, or I may know someone who can help you!

🐾 What types of pets do you care for?

I specialise in domestic animals such as dogs, cats, rabbits, rodents and small animals, and general household birds. I do not have experience with reptiles, large exotic birds, or specialised exotic pets such as snakes, lizards. I am happy to take them on with full instructions.

I am also experienced with Horses, I can muck out/feed/water/groom/be there for farrier visits while you are away.

🐾 Are you insured?

Yes, I’m fully insured for dog walking, pet care and pet transport. I also have my pet first aid kit in my van and am certified in this too.

🐾 Will my dog walk with others?

No, I do solo walks so that I give each dog a lot of attention and tailor the walk to their needs. If you have more than one dog, I will obviously walk them together. If your dog has a best friend that lives down the road, that would melt my heart and we can of course work that out so that I walk them both together!

🐾 My pet is scared of new people, how will this work?

Awwww, I have met lots of nervous or shy pets. I always take things slowly and calmly, often sitting on the floor or giving plenty of space and ignoring so they can approach in their own time. There’s no forced contact, no pressure, just quiet confidence and patience. Once your pet realises they are safe, they usually settle beautifully and routines with me become something they look forward to. This is why the meet and greet is so important, you can see how I am with them. It might even take a few more meet ups after the initial one but we can discuss this and make a plan.

🐾 Do you send updates?

Yes, photos and updates are sent after each service. I also post images to my Facebook and Instagram unless you have requested I don't.

🐾 How do payments work?

Invoices will be sent via email and payment via bank transfer is required to secure your booking. If you prefer to do cash on the day that is also fine with me.

🐾 What about cancellations?

Once you're a confirmed client, you’ll receive full policy details, including cancellations and rescheduling. Everything is clear and upfront but basically I require 24 hours notice to give me time to fill your spot.

🐾 What if my pet needs the vet whilst in your care?

This is all covered when you sign up,  your vet details will be on your file in my online system from the forms I send out. It is rare that anything happens but I realise this is a worrying part of having someone else care for your pet, that's why having a plan in place its super important.

🐾 My dog is reactive to other dogs, can you still walk them?

Yes, I can. I have experience working with dogs who struggle around others, I have two reactive dogs myself due to them being attacked multiple times!

'My dog is friendly' being shouted at me doesn't wash with me. People need to be under control of their dogs and I make sure my voice is heard if I see one running towards me, I almost feel like carrying a neon sign to protect the dog on my lead!

Their dog may be very friendly but if the dog on my lead reacts badly to having a dog running towards them, things could go pear-shaped very quickly. I am all over this and very passionate on this subject.

I take time to assess your dog’s reactivity level before deciding what type of walk is appropriate. If your dog needs space, I will tailor their walk to quiet routes where we can avoid close contact with other dogs and keep things calm and positive.

If you'd like support with their reactivity, I can incorporate gentle, reward-based training during walks, helping them become more confident, relaxed and responsive over time. If you already go to dog training for this reason, I can continue the training you are currently doing on my walks to ensure your dog doesn't go backwards in their progress.

Everything is paced to suit your dog, ensuring they feel safe and understood, not overwhelmed and if we do have a 'bad moment' we continue and work through it and always end the walk on a positive.

🐾 Treats, do you use them? What if my dog can't eat certain things?

I have a form for you upon booking so that I have your pets diet on record and any allergies.

I use premium dog treats that are made locally! They are high value so your dog will love doing all the good things for them and if your dog can only have certain foods, I can use your own treats on the walks or just use toys for reward

🐾 What if my dog gets super muddy?! I don't want to come home to a muddy sofa!

There's usually towelling down involved but if your dog goes that extra mile and ends up a soggy brown mess, I have a travel wash to clean them down with! Bath and blow dry will be available in the future as an extra!
